Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is the international airport serving Dublin. It is 7km (4.3 miles) north of Dublin in Collinstown and 3km (1.9 miles) of Swords.

In2021 its passenger numbers rose by 14% to 8.6 million which is substantially short of 2019 when pre Covid, it handled 32.9 million passengers.

Dublin airport is the headquarters of both Aer Lingus, Ireland’s flag carrier and the budget airline Ryanair.

Along with Shannon Airport it is one of only two airports  to make United States border preclearance services available at the airport, in Europe, for U.S bound passengers.

There are two terminals in Dublin airport Terminal 1 which opened in 1972 and is currently home to all airlines except Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates and United Airlines.

Terminal 2 opened in November 2010 and  is now the transatlantic gateway for flights to the United States as it features a US pre-clearance immigration facility which was previously housed in Terminal 1.

Terminal 2 also contains the United States immigration pre-clearance facility. Currently Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates and United Airlines operate from Terminal 2.

Dublin Airport is located just off the M1 and the M50 10 km (6.2 mi)^[2] north from the city centre and 2 km (1.2 mi) south of the town of Swords. There is no rail link to Dublin city centre, and the public transport options to the city are taxis, buses and private transport.

Bus services

Dublin Airport is served by a large network of bus and coach routes, serving both the wider Dublin area and intercity links to the rest of Ireland. More than 700 buses a day service Dublin Airport. In addition, Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland run local stopping services that serve such residential areas as Santry, Swords, Rathfarnham, Ballinteer, Sutton, Malahide, Beaumont, Harold’s Cross, Drumcondra, Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush and Portmarnock, with routes 16, 33A, 41, 41B and 102.

Rail

There is no rail connection to Dublin airport.
